11:19 am - Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends.

No happy Thanksgiving to Czech friend who is telling me about all wonderful Thanksgiving food he will be eating while I am preparing for game tonight and no, putting cranberry sauce on chicken and pasta does not really make things better.

1:26 am - A good start at home
Well, I think that first home game went pretty well :) I have played there, Mellon Arena, many many times over past 12 years, but it is totally different to play as home team. it was great to see and hear that fans are so excited, and why not, there's lots of exciting players on team!

It is great to play with evgenimalkin again, we have played together in Magnitogorsk during lockout and he was very nice while I was there, drove me and patrikelias around to show us places, that is until Patty gets very bad sickness, but I do not like to talk about that :(

It seems like there is a lot of people that are getting injured, even though it is so early. I guess only good thing about that is there is lots of time to come back, lots of hockey to go, lots of chances to make a difference.

11:28 pm - We did not even need rehab!
I am very proud to announce that gelato addiction is gone and we did not have relapse or anything like that. There was one day when I see Marty looking online for plane tickets to Italy, but I just close browser and suggest other things to do and problem was solved.

Besides, I think that ice cream that I make, even though it cannot compare to product from gelato guy, it has enough special ingredients and things like that that it will satisfy cravings :)

10:36 am - Gelato is part of healthy diet, yes?
I have just come back from very enjoyable trip to visit jasonspezza and vermette20 in Italy at their new house. I must say I was very impressed with how nice place is, and it was very clean too. martinhavlat thinks that they hired crack team of cleaners just before we show up, but I think this sounds like crazy thing.

We also get to meet famous gelato guy, and I have to say that gelato is so good it is almost like addiction. We are both pretty cranky after we come back home, it is tough to go cold turkey, you know?

8:09 am - Going back east
Thank you to all of good friends I have made in Edmonton. You are great guys and I am lucky to get chance to know you and play with you.

I am looking forward to playing in Pittsburgh. It will be good to be back east, and get chance to play again with evgenimalkin. This is good team, with so many good young players, and I think they are even better next season.

Right now I have to admit it is all little far away. It is good feeling of relief that I know where I will be, not like last year when I was waiting for a while. Now I can enjoy here a little more, or maybe that would be too much. ;)

9:23 am - It is good to be home
After exciting, fun-filled vacation of lying on beach doing nothing but putting on sunscreen every now and then, we are back home.

I wanted to go to Belize, but then I find out that you have to get all kinds of shots for lots of diseases and things, and some of them we have to take one month before going and there is no time, so we could not go :( Also certain someone seems to have very strong reaction to words like "rabies" and "malaria" so I am not sure he would get on plane anyway because I think airport has problems with letting people having panic attack on to plane.

It is too difficult for us to watch Cup Final. Maybe if it is different teams, but I think we both feel same way, I am happy for old teammates, but there are lot of things I do not want to think about, do not want to be reminded about.

It is more fun to watch than play anyway. I have already gone to park to get scouting report on Brazilian football team and I do not believe it, but they are even better and dirtier than before. They have new star player who is so good that I am suspicious. I do not put it past them to bring guy over from Brazil just for football skills, even if he has no business being in Czech Republic!

radek_dvorak, ales_hemsky, prucha, all you other guys, I think that we will need your help :)

11:10 am - Who needs World Championships or playoffs when there is tennis?
I am spending a few days in California before I go back home. I have gone surfing, of course, and I play a game of football, but all players were pretty young and not that good, and guys on other team give me dirty looks, like they are going to go complain to mothers or something, so I feel bad playing with them again. Mostly I have played a lot of tennis lately!

martinhavlat, who is best tennis opponent, has injury right now, so I have to find other competition at tennis club. I have been playing a lot against this one guy and, I feel like I am better player, but always towards end of match he will pull out come from behind win :( And he is, I think this is not a very nice guy, maybe people think he is because he is always smiling, and hair is always perfect and he has very straight, white teeth, but I can see beyond sunny exterior that this is not good person at all and he probably kicks small animals when nobody is looking.

I play him again today, I know that I can win!

11:16 am - Who has stolen my PSP???
Mostly, when I come to Chicago there is pretty good hospitality. There are nice restaurants, good clubs, and also lots of recreational activities.

It is all very nice, then puck drops, and it is not so nice anymore. It is also not very nice that PSP has been stolen!!! Now what do I do on flight?

Thank you radek_dvorak for nudge, even though you too do not seem to know meaning of hospitality :(

11:19 pm - Close is not good enough
Well, road trip is more than half over now. It has been pretty bad trip so far, but things are looking better, coming together. I have good feeling about tomorrow.

There is good thing about being veteran (not old) and that is I have my own room. I can turn lights off when I want, do not have to deal with messy guys who throw clothes all over room or leave food all over the place. I can sit here in peace and write LJ and do not have nosy guy looking over shoulder and breathing loudly or eating loudly in ear which is one of most annoying kinds of thing to do, ever.

But there is nice thing about having roommate too, especially if it is good friend. I remember when me and Patty were roommates and sometimes we drink and play cards and then we make bets and person who loses has to do embarrassing thing and funny thing is that almost every time it is me who loses and then there is walking naked down hotel hallway singing song and maybe complaints from guest and yelling from hotel manager, so maybe that was not so nice thing about having friend as roommate.

Anyway, it is pretty late, so it is time to get rest for tomorrow's game :)

1:53 pm - I am pretty sure I cannot turn heat higher than this
I am looking forward to All Star break. Not because I am old and tired, like some people say, but because it is good to get a break from hockey. I love playing, and after few days away from hockey, I think that always makes me more excited to play again. Also, it gives me chance to escape from cold and get little bit of surfing in :)

I think that this year, West will win it all, thanks to exciting, talented player who will carry team to victory! It is crazy thing that it is only first time he is all star, of course I am talking about Ryan Smyth.

There is surprise visitor in house. He says that he is here to get tips on how to play the Wild, but I am suspicious that there is ulterior motive. I will investigate very thoroughly.

11:52 pm - I win something!
Well, today was Superskills and I won accuracy competition, beating out some very skilled guys. It is first time I have done this kind of team competition so I was very excited that I am winner in something. It was lot of fun, but winning is always fun ;)

So martinhavlat has gone back to Chicago with team now, and so there is nobody in apartment now to make sure that heat is turned on, and to check whether there is enough fruit :( But tonight I have good friend ales_hemsky over. We have tough, hard-fought Fifa PS2 tournament that Ales wins because I think he knows secret cheating moves or something but I put in good effort, and have better showing than last time. Next time I will win!

Anyway, I think Superskills and exciting Fifa tournament has tired Ales out, so he is asleep on couch right now. If I am mean guy, maybe I play prank on him, but I am not mean, and I think I am too old for it now.

Too old :( I am 30 years old now. To be honest, this is something that I have not felt that good about for a while, but now that it has passed, I think it is ok. I am at next stage of life now, and it is very good life, I think :) I thought that I would just have nice dinner with my favorite guy, but he planned surprise party for me! Thanks to all of you guys who came, you are really good friends and I am lucky to know you :)

11:23 am - A good start
I think so far, I am very happy with how things are going. New teammates are all good guys, and they have really made me feel welcome, like I am fitting in, so I say thank you :)

It has been great playing on same line with my good friend ales_hemsky. I have known him for a while now, and it is nice to get chance to be linemates. I have feeling this is going to work out just fine :)

5:44 pm - Next best thing
Hello, I hope that everyone is having good summer! I am having really great time in Prague, I think only thing missing is nice beach and waves for surfing, but there is nice pool in apartment complex so I am spending lot of time in water anyway. I have tried to convince certain other person to swim too, but he prefers to lie by pool with sunglasses on like movie star, but at least he has sunblock and does not turn red like lobster anymore.

I hear lot of people say things about how it is cold in Edmonton. I think that after I spend long, long winter in Siberia that this is not a problem for me. Even though there is no Russian soap opera to pass time, there will be more things to do there. And if anybody knows of good, addictive Canadian soap opera, please do not tell me about it ;)

5:34 pm - See you at training camp
First, I wish a very happy birthday to new teammate and good friend ales_hemsky :)

That is other thing, that I have new team now. I am very excited to play in Edmonton, get to know teammates I have not played with before. I have really good feeling about next season, I am looking forward to training camp. I want to say that I wish it was tomorrow, but that is not completely true ;)

I am back in Prague now, well, I should say, that we are back in Prague now. Before I went to Edmonton, I was in Brno with Marty, that is where everything started for us, in apartment with nuclear green walls. Also, where we teach kids at hockey camp. Also where things happen in cabs and doorways ;) Three years. There was ups and downs of course, but overall, I think they were very good years. Do not underestimate benefits of a good foot massage.

10:02 am - Waiting
I still do not where I am going to play next year. I thought that it was going to be simple, and I go back to New York, but I guess it will not work that way.

So I am waiting. It is not good feeling. I am not sitting around staring out window and waiting for phone to ring, I am doing lot of things, and it has been fun, there is nice certain person that I do them with, but I think always, little bit in back of my mind I am waiting.

We are back home in Prague now, after seeing Jason and Antoine for Antoine's birthday. He gave him this really amazing present, this beautiful, beautiful
Silver Mercedes SL500
and wow, I would not have thought about giving that kind of thing as present, or getting it, but now certain someone has gotten nice big raise, and I keep talking about car, and how great Jason is to do that, and how I have not bought a new car in at least a couple of years now, but he just quickly changes subject and says that it is hot and he wants ice cream.

3:55 pm - There is always difficulties in life
First I am too sad to update, then I am having too much fun to update. I know it has been a while, but I was surprised to see that it has been 5 weeks! Thank you, 68_jagr_68 for nudge.

I am in Maui with martinhavlat, vermette20 and jasonspezza, so there, I confirm that I am really here, and that they are not lying when they say I am ;)

I know that going to beach, surfing, swimming, playing tennis, golf, football, all of those things makes it sound like it is all fun and games, but we have problems too, here. Blender is broken so there are no more nice, fruity drinks, only beer and wine :(

Good news is that I got to drink last of fruity drinks before it is all gone! :)

I know that I will see some of you guys in Germany and we can cheer for Czech Republic together! Some of you I know have more important things to do in next couple of weeks and I understand, but when you are done with that, you must come to Germany, yes?

7:46 pm - Hey look, I have all this great Czech beer
I have a lot of it. If you wore Rangers jersey today, you are invited to help me finish drinking it. All of it.

To all guys who were wearing Devils jersey today, I hope this does not become habit ;) Good luck for rest of playoffs.

11:39 am - I am trying
I have some problems with my back after games sometimes, it is not too bad, it is just sore, what I expect after I play so many years in the league, it is not like what some people say, that I am getting old. Anyway, Anaheim trainer told me that maybe I should try yoga and I have always thought yoga is for all those actresses in LA and maybe some of their dogs but he said that it is very good for my back so I try it out.

I am terrible at it :(

Ok, you see, here is chart of poses.

You see step 1, I can do step 1 that is very easy for me. Now you see step 2. I cannot do step 2. And there is 10 steps! I already failed at step 2 :(

So I think, ok, maybe step 2 is easy for women and stick figure in chart. I watch yoga DVD. All the men can do step 2! It is very discouraging.

I have shown this chart to Marty, and tell him all of my problems and show him and then he gives advice that if step 2 is problem, why not just skip it? He says go to step 4 and step 5. Those I can do.

But then I could not seem to get past step 5.

10:30 am - So that is where they go!
My teammate from Anaheim ozolinsh is on team now, so everybody be good to him, ok? :)

Things are still good for me, good and busy. There are so many things to do in the city and everything is so close, we have gone to clubs, restaurants, also a couple of museums, and I think Patty wants to go see another musical with me, but game schedule is pretty tight now, so I do not have to do that for a while. I mean, we cannot do that for a while, that is.

Last night when I was getting shirt from closet, shoebox fell on my head, now if this is empty shoebox then it is fine, but it is not, it was full of bottles of hair gel! And, after I pick them up, I find that it is all opened bottles that have been used once or twice and strange thing is that it is brand that I use.

I think that somebody has some explaining to do when he gets home.
